Full disclosure: this comparison is published by Cantarolai, one of the services compared. To keep it useful, we only used what each company publishes on its own website, checked on October 14, 2026, and where someone beats us, we say so. Prices change and some vary by country, so always confirm on their site before paying.

What we found
- Hearing your song before paying is still rare: only Cantarolai, ForeverSongs and Hosanna Song let you listen for free; Songlorious charges 50% first.
- The guarantee on the homepage isn't always the one in the terms. In two cases the site promises a full refund while the terms leave it to the company's discretion. Read the refund policy, not the banner.
- "Real musicians" vs AI: Songfinch is the only one that says no AI is used in the song itself, and it shows in the price ($179 and up) and the wait (a week). Several others use AI-assisted production, sometimes mentioned only in the terms.
- Downloads: ForeverSongs' FAQ says standard orders stream online and the MP3 comes with a paid license add-on. Songfinch and Songlorious include the MP3. At Cantarolai the download is included.
Searched for "My Birthday Song" or "1HappyBirthday"?
Neither is a custom song service. 1HappyBirthday offers free, pre-recorded Happy Birthday songs for tens of thousands of names: if you just want the classic tune with a name, it's free there. MyBirthdaySong.com is a domain for sale, not a service. A custom song is different: the lyrics are written from your own story.
How to choose
- Can you hear it before paying? A song is an emotional gift; paying blind puts all the risk on you.
- What do the refund terms say? Not the banner: the terms.
- Who controls the lyrics? With editable lyrics you fix a wrong name or date in seconds. With artists, every change is another round of days.
- The real deadline: if the birthday is tomorrow, 4 to 7 day services are out, however good they are.
Our honest recommendation
- 100% human-made song and a week to spare → Songfinch.
- Hear it first, write or fix the lyrics yourself, have it today and keep a 7-day refund → Cantarolai, from $19.
- A preview and delivery within a day for around $29 → ForeverSongs.
- A Christian song for a faith occasion → PrayerSong.
Hear your song before you pay.
